Nothing Changes, If Nothing Changes

With all of the changes happening in my life, it has me thinking about how some people dread the word "change" while others long for it and can't get enough of it. I'm one of those that anticipates and fears change, but also knows that it can be a great thing. This is the one constant in our lives, really. We can all expect change to occur whether we want it or not, so we might as well accept that it's coming (or happening) and embrace it.

Change helps us to grow and spread our wings, even if you didn't know you had wings to spread. Unfortunately, it's usually forced on us and may not seem that great at the time 🥴 Some people bloom in the midst of changes that others thought would destroy them. It really comes down to mindset and how you look at things. You can take these situations one of two ways: either consider it a learning lesson and grow from it, or let it define you, hold you back, and stay stagnant where you are.

I know that in growing a business I have experienced all of these scenarios multiple times. Some events have been milestones of my success and others are still sore, open wounds that I continue to mend and learn from. The thing is, nobody's perfect and no one makes the "right" decision 100% of the time. All we can do is decide on something, then not look back wondering if it was the right thing to do or not. If it happens to not be the exact thing we needed at the time, then oh well, life goes on. We can adapt and change again! In my experience, the most successful people make the biggest mistakes and then learn the greatest lessons from them.

One thing I do know is that you can't live in fear of making the "wrong" decision. The easiest way for me to decide something is to do it out of love. Love for those it affects immediately, love of yourself, and love of bettering yourself. For me, having a positive attitude and always seeing things
from the bright side helps me to make clear choices. When we only look at the negative or the bad things that may happen, the darkness overcomes the light and this can hinder our decision making.

If something doesn't "make your heart sing”, put a smile on your face or pep in your step, then maybe you should turn your ear to other options. This past year has been a staple of change in every aspect of everyone's lives. Whether your job was affected, your health, or way of life, this has been a year of change that can be so unsettling and unfamiliar at times. Most of us have a tendency to fear these feelings and want to run from them. I try to believe that things happen for a reason and there is always a bright side to every situation. You just have to open your eyes and see it.

Many of us have learned to lean on each other and in our faith this past year which is a great lesson to learn. When you can't control what's happening,
challenge yourself to control the way you are responding to what’s happening.

Think about it. Change stays consistent, life will go on, and how we approach each day determines our happiness.
